Day I of the WeB-Nimbus study visit in Barcelona showcased innovative approaches to cloud and edge computing education. Participants explored a self-regulated learning model for adult education, highlighting the role of cloud-based and AI-driven tools in personalized and lifelong learning.
The day concluded with a guided visit to the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, offering insights into how supercomputing, cloud, and edge technologies drive research, education, and industry collaboration.
Through WeB-Nimbus, we continue to strengthen digital skills, modernize higher education, and enhance cooperation between the Western Balkans and the EU.

Focus Group on Cybersecurity and Cloud Computing Education in Albania

Within the EU-funded WEB-NIMBUS Project, a focus group was held in Tirana with representatives from UNYT and UET to discuss Albania’s regulatory framework on data protection, cybersecurity, and cloud computing education.
Discussions highlighted the growing need for a domestic data center, skilled cybersecurity professionals, and modernized academic curricula integrating AI, Quantum Computing, GDPR, and Cyber Diplomacy. Participants also noted significant regulatory gaps in cloud services and the absence of dedicated Edge and Cloud Computing programs in Albania, underlining the urgency for specialized education in this field.

Highlights from the Kick-off meeting

The first day of the ERASMUS+ WeB-Nimbus Kick-Off Meeting was held on 14 January at the University of New York Tirana, bringing together partners from the Western Balkans and the EU.
The meeting featured opening remarks from project leaders, partner introductions, and an overview of the project’s mission to advance cloud and edge computing education. Key discussions focused on curriculum innovation, MSc and LMS development, work-based learning, accreditation, and dissemination.
On the second day, interactive workshops strengthened collaboration on curriculum design, data collection, and policy advocacy to support effective project implementation.
Kick-off meeting

On January 14-15, 2025, the University of New York Tirana (UNYT) proudly hosted the kick-off meeting of the WEB-NIMBUS Project financed by the European Commission. This significant initiative, in collaboration with a remarkable consortium of universities from the Western Balkans and Europe, aims to modernize academic offerings by contributing to establishing a cutting-edge master’s program in I-Cloud technology.
The project is a collaborative effort with a distinguished consortium of universities, including the University of West Attica, Metropolitan College, University Ramon Llull, University of Aveiro, Aleksander Moisiu University, University of New York Tirana, European University Tirana, University Isa Boletini Mitrovica, International Business College Mitrovica, Universum International College, and the Ministry of Education Kosovo.
